In conversation with Raluca Bădescu for I AM ART, Elleny Gherghe reflects on painting as part of her identity, the women and natural world that inhabit her work, and the studio in southern Spain where she paints and welcomes others into her artistic universe.
She discusses her intuitive creative process, the connection between an artwork and its viewer, and her first solo museum exhibition, “Motherhood and the Beast Within”, in Comănești. Through its paintings, she explores motherhood beyond idealised images, embracing tenderness and anger, love and fear, vulnerability and strength.
